full name • Leona Anne Stonehouse
nicknames • Anne (only by family)
age • 27
birthday • July 20, 1997
occupation • Owner of Dolly's Vintage + Thrift, professional ballet dancer
gender • female
sexuality • bisexual
face claim • Alycia Debnam-Carey
identifying features • Leona stands at 5'-7" with long, willowy features. A ballet dancer for many years, she graces the stage with her long features and pale skin. A lean but secretly strong build, that has gained a bit of weight - a feat she is quite proud of. Bright colors and more unique finds are her clothing choices. Her brunette hair is always long, either in an updo or down.
likes • classical music, theatre, ballet, thrifting, well-cooked seafood, horror movies (the gorier the better)
dislikes • diet culture of her profession, running (will accept death during a zombie apocalypse)
strengths • dumpster diving, returning clothing to its formal glory (or close to it), being able to relax
weaknesses • her brother Aaron (has a hard time saying no to him), kiddos starting dance (wants to make sure they have a positive space), Sanrio (has a large collection), matcha lattes (strawberry is her fav)
dreams • that the rigorous culture of ballet is changed in a good way, getting people to buy second-hand as much as possible, her brother allowing himself the space to be happy
fears • Aaron ODing
overall personality • Leona reads as shy, mainly because people view her face as Eyore. Long, and almost sad-looking. Some people have chronic bitch faces, Leona has chronic sad faces. She is a nice girl, but will often not start or join a conversation unless asked. Granted, she can become a total chatterbox when thrifting and her interests are involved. Leona is a motherly type, especially to those who are entering dance at a young age or are returning to it. A loyal family member, but can be seen as a worry wart.
father • Jayson Samuel Stonehouse, 54, mechanic
mother • Jane Karen Stonehouse, 50, doctor
siblings • AARON JASPER STONEHOUSE , 29
important people • Uncle Francis, 52 & Anthony, 57
hometown • Washington D.C., USA.
overall history • Leona was born as the youngest child to two hard-working parents. She grew up in a suburb of DC, where she flourished as a ballet prodigy. Ballet wasn’t something that her parents thought their daughter would ever do – as she was quite a klutz. But after direction from another doctor – Leona was enrolled in dance classes. Her natural lines and hyperextension helped her excel.
It was something interesting, two children who were heavy in the arts – versus their parents who had more scientific-led brains. Their interests were hard to juggle at the same time, but both kids had their interests fully supported.
Realizing that their daughter was surpassing what the companies of DC could offer, Leona moved to Seattle with her Uncle Francis and his husband, Anthony when she was 13. In Seattle, Leona thrived. She missed her brother and parents – but she would always visit when she could and phone call.
Not only did Leona enhance in dance, but the Pacific Northwest also introduced her to the world of secondhand and restoration. The number of markets and charity shops was a fun part of exploring Seattle and other places like Portland. She told her family that she wanted to begin sewing.
As Leona began rising to the ranks of ballet, she was becoming more aware of the rigorous nature of it all. She found herself not eating as much and ignoring signals her body was giving her. The question of whether are you okay finally passed to her brother, when his fiancée, Megan passed tragically.
While it was an awful experience for everyone, it was also a wake-up call to Leona. Life was short, and she needed to make sure she was around for her family. Especially, her brother who spiraled fast and hard. They made a pact that if one decided to get therapy – the other would as well. And they did.
Aaron healed enough to go to England, and Leona took a step back in the ballet world. She continued to dance, keeping herself as a visiting artist and ensemble. Leona continued to be in the States – but was offered a placement at the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Due to her not being a full company placement, it gave Leona time to see her brother – and open a thrift store. Dolly’s was a bit of whim – but Leona was drawn into the old storefront. And like anything old, she couldn’t help but want to restore it.
Leona continued to dance, but not as often as she did before. She focuses more on teaching now, to make sure that future and returning students have someone on their side. The idea of fully retiring and just teaching is there, but Leona isn’t quite ready to leave the stage just yet.
